It may have felt like a quick drive to the grocery store but we were itching so badly for a getaway that we checked ourselves in to Coolangatta’s Calypso Resort, less than fifteen minutes from our front door.
This trip was more about a 5yo and a pool, which to my son, meant the world and I knew that this pool was going to be the one. Big enough to not feel over crowded, shallow areas for safety and two waterslides. Now, I am not talking about Wet’n’wild type slides, but ones that are fun for everyone (including this Mumma) and even better is it’s relaxing for us parents.
Yes, there are no images of me. I was having way too much fun on the slides myself!
The resort no longer has an onsite restaurant as I’d remembered, but that is no issue at all. Calypso is surrounded with a huge variety of dining options such as a the best cafes for breakfast, Italian, Japanese, Seafood and even a steakhouse, basically everything you can think of is right on the doorstep.
Feel like like throwing that chef hat on for the night & staying in, then you will be more than happy with your self-contained apartment. We opted to dine out which we are more inclined to do anyway. If you saw me cook, you’d understand why as I’ll use every pan I can find. Lol
Apartments are either overlooking the main Griffith St or the pool area with views also of the beautiful Coolangatta Beach, but no matter what you choose, Calypso Resort is an ideal holiday resort.
Whether you have driven 15 minutes to 15 hours to get here, Coolangatta is one of the most beautiful places on the coast to visit and for those flying you have no excuse as the Gold Coast Airport is just minutes away.
