Potager, The Restaurant to Visit in the Tweed

Potager, The Restaurant to Visit in the Tweed

A Twenty five minutes drive from the QLD border & up and into the hills to Carool we go. Located in the Tweed Valley we were headed for Potager, a ‘kitchen garden’ in french.

It was awarded a Chef’s Hat in Janaury by Australia’s Good Food Guide so it was definitely worth a visit I was told so let’s have a looksie.

Set on a small 10 acre (I’d be happy with 1 acre myself) farm the majority of the menu comes fresh straight from the paddock & the food that doesn’t is from the surrounding local farms. Just knowing that makes me feel a little wholesome already!

Pulling in to the car park we realise that this place is a VERY popular restaurant & we’d obviously been out of touch in the foodie department. But with the beautiful almost entirely edible garden leading the way to the front door you could be sure to say it’s a Foodies idea of heaven.

Once inside and greeted by the very friendly and attentive staff, we pretend to read the menu as we already (as I think most people do) checked it online 100 times? And from all good reports we opted for the locally caught market fish & Peruvian sudado de pescado (fish stew), with ofcourse wine….ok maybe that was three. The drive is a little bendy boo so hubby was the designated driver. Excuse me waiter…the bottle is fine please! I might be bedier than the drive home.Lol

With such a stunning views of the hinterland & a lick of the lips, that will crave another visit to Potager, we are not suprised as to why this place has won so many awards. Everything about Potager is focused on local. The produce, the plates & even the furniture is hand crafted nearby. It takes pride in it’s region and it shows.

It is one for the ‘MUST TRY’ list so make sure you book ahead & give yourself a good couple of hours. It’s a great dining experience.
