I recently had the opportunity to attend a SoundWAVE session at Wave Yoga & Living Studio in Kingscliff. As someone who enjoys trying new things, I was excited to see what this ancient technique of healing through sound had to offer.
The session was led by Lou, who guided us through a restorative and meditative experience of sound immersion. The space was dimly lit with candles and the sound of gentle chimes in the background. Lou began with a brief introduction to sound healing and the various instruments she would be using during the session. She then encouraged us to get comfortable, close our eyes, and simply let the sound wash over us.
The instruments used included crystal and Tibetan singing bowls, rainstick, ocean drum, zaphir chimes, swinging chimes, crystal pyramid, tuning forks, tongue drum, medicine drum, and bija mantra chants. As Lou began to play, I felt myself relaxing into the sounds. The tones and vibrations from the instruments seemed to permeate every cell in my body, and I could feel myself shifting into a deeply relaxed state.
As the session continued, I found myself slipping into a meditative state. I wasn’t quite sleeping, but I wasn’t fully awake either. I had moments where I felt deep emotion and even felt a tear run down my cheek (insert a very personal moment here…NOT). At one point, I saw a bright white light which then turned to a shade of blue/indigo before fading away and that I am still looking into as to they why but I believe it has something to do with chakras and I know I have a bit of healing to do. Despite feeling overwhelmed by this experience, I soon felt calm and before I knew it, the session was over.
After the session, I felt a sense of peace and tranquility. I also noticed that my body felt more relaxed and tension-free than it had in a long time. Looking back, I can see why people have been using sound healing as a means of relaxation and healing for thousands of years. It’s a unique experience that can have a profound effect on both the mind and body.
Overall, I highly recommend the SoundWAVE session at Wave Yoga & Living Studio in Kingscliff. Lou is a skilled practitioner who creates a safe and supportive environment for her clients. If you’re looking for a new way to relax and unwind, I encourage you to give sound healing a try. As the saying goes, “where words fail, music speaks.”
