BAWA Volunteers Making a Difference
As an animal lover I wanted to bring the attention to an amazing group of people that volunteer at BAWA (Bali Animal Welfare Association) in Bali which needs our help.
It is a non-profit organisation that works to save, protect and improve the lives of all of animals in Bali and beyond however they are mainly focused on ‘Man’s best friend’. Known in Bali as their indigenous dog’s they are now under serious threat from disease, road accidents and invidious dog meat trade.

Founded in 2007 by Janice Girardi, BAWA works every day to relieve the suffering and save the lives of animals. BAWA is a non-profit organisation registered in Indonesia to work for better animal welfare. BAWA runs:
  • 24/7 hotline
  • Bali’s only free 24/7 animal ambulance service
  • Animal rehabilitation
  • Education in schools & communities
  • Advocacy for better animal welfare

BAWA is funded entirely by donations and relies heavily on a staff of dedicated volunteers. If you can spare a donate to help ‘Man’s Best Friend’ please click here however if you are travelling to Bali or know someone else who is coming, you can make the visit extra special taking some supplies to them. They are always needing essential supplies such as food, medicine, towels and toys.

They have very little money to buy these things, so please take a look below at their ‘Wish List’. Anything you can take will make a big difference.

Many items such as food (rice, egg & chicken) and cleaning products (bleach, hand wash) can be purchased in Bali. If you would like to donate items like these, you can purchase them in Bali or ask for your donation to be used to buy specific items.

Donations of supplies can be dropped off at one of one of their shops in Ubud or Sanur. Click here to find a store. Or please contact BAWA for collection.
